Waiting ... "GOING TO THE CELLARS" 2024 IN ISCHIA

Trekking in the vineyard, walks and tastings to discover the rural island.

Vineyards overlooking the sea, ancient mule tracks, terraces and dry stone walls, historic millstones and cellars dug into the green tuff: it is rural Ischia, simple and true, which for millennia has cultivated the vine imported here by the Euboean colonists (8th century BC).

For generations, the families of local winemakers have handed down their craft and passion, often challenging daring slopes in a heroic practice of the vineyard: a reality that tells another face of the island and which is at the center of the Andar per Cantine initiative

Going through Cellars invites you to discover, through a series of guided itineraries, the places, stories and protagonists of Ischia viticulture. An opportunity to meet historic producers and small local winemakers, to learn about the native vines - Biancolella, Forastera and Per'e Palummo - and the history of the Ischia Doc, first in Campania and among the top five in Italy, to experience the beauty of breathtaking landscapes and corners little known to the general public.

Twenty wineries will open their spaces to the public. The initiative offers a series of itineraries that combine discovery of the area, hiking and tastings: each itinerary offers three food and wine stops in as many wineries. The island's historic companies will open their spaces to the public, offering walks among the rows, visits to the production sites and tastings in the barrel cellar.

Casa D'Ambra which has been producing wines from the island's typical vines since 1888;

Pietratorcia which cultivates 7 hectares in the Forio and Serrara Fontana area;

Tommasone in the Lacco Ameno area,

Cenatiempo with its heroic viticulture on the southern side of the island at 450 meters above sea level in the municipality of Serrara Fontana;

Mazzella Vini founded in 1940 which still today harvests and presses the grapes by hand;

Perrazzo Vini, the company founded in 1880 in the deep tuff gorges of the port of Ischia;

Tenuta Ruffano which cultivates 5 hectares of vineyard on the slopes of Epomeo on the southern side;

the Crateca Cellars born in an old inactive crater at 500 meters above sea level between the municipalities of Casamicciola Terme, Forio and Lacco Ameno.

But not only that, Going through Cellars is also an opportunity to discover a series of small cellars managed by local farmers, otherwise inaccessible, and listen to stories and memories of an island unknown to most.

INFORMATION Reservations are mandatory for all "Walking through the cellars" routes, departures are from Piazza San Leonardo in Panza (at 10am and 3pm, the cost includes shuttle, visit to the cellars, guide and tasting).
